In the caravan or caravan, owners want a good Internet connection like at home, e.g. such as retrieving emails, streaming the news from the ARD's media library, or watching their Netflix series on holiday. You also want to do without the electronic newspaper on your tablet or planning the next travel stage with Google Maps. And the transfer of the home office to the motorhome and mobile work on the go are also part of the wishes of the campers. However, inside the camper or caravan, the mobile radio reception or the WLAN signal of the camping or parking site is often restricted. Possibly the WLAN of the camping or pitch is also subject to a fee and you want a cheaper solution. With the SELFSAT MWR 4550, the MWR 4524 (item number: 13779) and the MWR 5550 (article number: 13781), SELFSAT offers three suitable complete solutions with different maximum connection speeds for stable and good WiFi coverage on the go when travelling or on the camping or pitching.

The heart of this is an Internet router that can be operated via the 12 volt on-board power supply and which can receive an incoming WLAN signal, or thanks to an inserted SIM card, a mobile network signal from the outside and send out inside the camper or caravan as a private, password-protected WLAN signal. This gives you a significantly better signal inside than you would have directly with your smartphone, tablet, laptop or TV. In addition, you can connect multiple devices to the Internet router at the same time. This has no SIM lock and can be used with the charging SIM cards (prepaid) or contract SIM cards (postpaid) from different providers. As it has 2 SIM card slots, e.g. foreign SIM cards can also be used abroad. For good reception for all three variants, an outdoor antenna that is mounted on the camper or caravan and connected to the Internet router inside.

The antenna receives the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WLAN signal of the camping or pitch as well as the 4G LTE or 5G mobile network signal. Thanks to MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) technology, it can send and receive multiple data packets simultaneously to achieve the best possible connection speed. The dust and waterproof antenna (protection class IP67) can be mounted directly on the roof of the motorhome or caravan. Thanks to a rubber seal, it protects against penetrating water, but can also be used e.g. with Sikaflex. In addition, there is a 6 cm long thread extension with an outer diameter of 35 mm, which allows installation with different roof thicknesses. The cables of the antenna are guided through the inside of the thread into the vehicle interior. Alternatively, the antenna can be mounted on an optionally available roof mounting plate. This can also be used e.g. with Sikaflex glued to the roof (and if necessary additionally screw). In this case, the cables of the antenna can be replaced by a possibly existing roof or the roof feedthrough included with the roof mounting plate can be laid inside. The cable lengths of the antenna are 1 m. Required cable extensions with 1 m or 2 m are optionally available.

Connecting to the WLAN of your Internet router is as easy as in the hotel or at home. The first connection can be established via the QR codes attached to the Internet router, or via the WLAN name and password. After changing the password, the connection is made via your set personal password. The simplified, user-friendly user interface of the Internet Router is possible for Apple or Android smartphones, tablets and laptops alike and is done via the Internet browser. No app needs to be installed.

Connect the WLAN router through the outdoor antenna to the Wi-Fi network of the camping or camping site or to the mobile network and use the 2.4 GHz range emitted by your WLAN router or more stable and faster 5 GHz WiFi signal to surf the Internet with your smartphone or tablet, read an electronic newspaper or with your smart TV TV e.g. from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, YouTube or the media libraries of TV stations.
